let me start by saying, i am aware that if i want a portable notebook, i should be looking at the 14.1" or lower selections. but i just love those 15.4" screens, they're perfect :D. anyways, i was wondering which laptop would be significantly more portable, an HP dv6700t w/ 6cell battery or dell xps m1530 w/ 6cell battery? I would be walking around with it for a maximum of 10 minutes. any ideas?

I think maybe the dell xps 1530, because it's very thin. Also you should maybe get a 9 cell battery because the can last a lot longer, especially if you are going to use your laptop for it's portability. I've heard a lot of great reviews on the xps 1530, so I would check that out over the HP.

you do realize that merely by having everything all in one package all notebooks are technically portable right? If you only ever plan on being away form an outlet for a few minutes at a time and aren't carrying it everywhere (as in you spend more time with it stationary than on the move) then 15.4" notebooks are fine. Also I'd bank on the xps being lighter but I'm not entirely sure.
