    i've been posting my problems in multiple threads and none of them get answered so i figure i might as well create my own thread

    problems i have left getting xp to work on my new dv5t

    -mute button always orange but working
    -IR remote not working
    -brightness controls not working

    please help!

    bump...look what support says

    "The issue with the notebook you have described seems to be related to incompatibility of the drivers with the notebook as the notebook has been designed specifically for Windows Vista. At this point I request you to check the issue by reinstalling the preinstalled operating system on to the notebook."

    Guys i was having an online chat with HP support, and this person online gave me a whole list of drivers and everything for installing XP on my dv5t. If anyone wants any help let me know, though I am not going to install XP at the moment, coz i dont see anything wrong with vista, I am here to help if anyone wants help in finding drivers or SATA slipstreaming.
