    Hi dv2000t pals,

Is it possible to add an extra wireless card on dv2000t? I need extra wireless power on this lappy (108MB rate) but I am not sure how to do that.

There are a couple of different options, but first, please clarify what you mean. Do you want to add two different cards? Or do you just need to replace the card you have?

I want a second card and use it together with my Intel 3945 card.

There is an 'expansion slot' on the left side of my lappy, but I am not sure whether some cards can fit in.

Just to confirm. So "expansion port" on dv2000t is indeed an 'express card' slot? or it is just for docking station?

Forgive my lameness, I have never used express card or pcmcia card.

the terms 'superb' and '108mbps' do not go together. instead of investing in that snake oil, look for a draft n card or get an .11a router and use that. You'll get MUCH better throughput

The expansion port located inbetween the VGA and the ethernet port is for the docking station. It is a proprietary connection so only compatible docking stations are able to use it.

The express card slot is the one in the front with a plastic cover and can be used with any expresscard compatible device(external wifi, TV tuner...). It should be capable of both expresscard 34/54 formats. PCMCIA is often reffered to the older format and is not compatible with the expresscard format.

yes, there is a plastic cover (used for the remote control) just above the SD/MMC card slot. So finally I located this expresscard location.

I just search newegg. It seems that wifi expresscard are very few and there are plenty of Carbus ones.

Can these CarBus be used for dv2000t?

Can anyone recommend a high-power wifi card?

No, you need an expresscard compatible one. That one is just 802.11g, the same as the one you already have built in. If you want faster transfers you'll need an 802.11n expresscard and router.

It may be difficult to find an expresscard wi-fi adaptor, because almost every laptop that has an expresscard slot will have built in wi-fi.
