I'm thinking you can't bargain the set price of the product but the HP agent has control over deductables on the order, such as discounts. However, getting them to give discounts could be difficult unless you have a very flexible agent or very good arguments.

It never hurts to ask! Negotiation is a lost art and I for one think that everything's negotiable - especially like things including shipping and extended warranties. Those are things that the company has control over. I've gotten better deals when putting people on the spot - citing competitor systems and free upgrades, ie ram, HD, etc... Alot of times - they will concede if you ask! Good luck!

i just claled after i placed my order and said i wanted to put my ram at 512 instead of 1 GB, they just gave me the difference. Before the sale i also told them that I got a better price at ta retail store. They moved quite a bit because i bought a warrenty on the computer. Give it a try, who knows!

Just don't expect like $300 off or anything, they'll probably hang up on you lol. Look around their website and see if they have anything about matching prices or sayings like "we have THE lowest prices". Snoop around the web and if you find anything cheaper, mention it on the phone. Say you'd be happy to buy from them if they will match so and so price. Layout a situation describing how you want to stay within this price range, and maybe they can work in a few discounts here and there.
