hi every one ..i have a compaq presario c500 i have a problem that it wont charge and it wont run without the battery ...i know its not the charger and not the battery at fault as i have two of the same laptops and tried both parts from the other laptop with no sucess . is it more likely to be the motherboard or the actual mains plug on the laptop ....when i plug the adapter into the laptop it shows a charge light on front and the battery icon on screen shows as charging but it still dies the only way to get round it is it to charge it in my girlfriends laptop then put the battery back in mine ...any help would be much appreciated

ps is there any setting in the bios that would change how its charged

    thanks

If you charger can also charge your girlfriends lappy then, I hate to tell you, it's an internal problem. Based in the fact that the the plugged in icon shows in the task bar indicates most likely a problem beyond the plug (motherboard maybe) which is serious.
