Please help me do decide which notebook to buy

    R3000Z

    AMD Athlon(TM) XP-M 3000+ (1.60 GHz/256K L2 cache)
    15.0" TFT XGA (1024 x 768)
    64MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) 4 440 Go + 1394
    512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
    DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
    Built in 56K Modem+10/100 LAN
    8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    or M2000

    Intel(R) Celeron(R) M 370 (1.5 GHz) 1MB L2 cache
    15.0" TFT XGA (1024x768)
    512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
    DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
    Intel Extreme Graphics 2
    Integrated 56K Modem + 10/100 Ethernet LAN

Both are 800$ in this configuration .M2000 is new model and better looking in my opinion The difference is in processor and graphic card on first look.

the R3000 has been out for some time so you know that it's a mature product that shouldn't have any problems, it also has a dedicated graphics card rather than the integrated card that the M2000 has. The R3000 wins the specs game, you should focus on what seems to have a better build, keyboard and usability factor...all very important points that are generally overlooked. Check out existing reviews for such information, I've had no experience with either laptop.

I would also suggest you hop over to your local laptop resellers (i.e. bestbuy, circuit city, staples, compusa, etc) and see if you can find similar models and compare them side by side.
