yesterday I bought a compaq presario v3017LA and it works fine, but I think maybe something is wrong with the fan because it's almost all the time turned on.
I checked the temperatures with speedfan and shows: 35°C for CPU, 51°C for HD, and the nvidia driver shows 55°C.
    are these normal values??
I read the specs for the hard disk at seagate.com and it says that the operating temperature is from 5 to 55°C, so i'm a little worried about that.

My work laptop runs all the way up to 60+, sometimes even to 70. Not the best thing for my lap, but it seems to work okay.

Those temps seem to be fine. The Seagates are one of the hotter running drives, but tend to offer the best performance. The CPU and the graphics temps are also fine.

that 5 to 55 operating temperature means that; the AMBIENT TEMPERATURE u wish the hard disk to operate, must be in the range of 5-55 deg celcius; so the laptop is fine running above those temperature. hope this clears up ur confusion, and makes u fell better :D
