i just bought a hp dm1-2040ca netbook and trying to figure out how to connect it to fido's network. i've tried using the fido apn internet.fido.ca with no success.
the netbook is running qualcomm gobi 2000 module using HP connection manager i've tried selecting generic umts since there is no option for fido or any canadian carrier with fido's apn and still nothing. i was able to connect to sprints network for some reason but didnt want to connect since i dunno if it would be considered roaming.
anyone know how to connect this netbook to a canadian 3g carrier like fido? i`ve contacted fido and they assured me the apn, username and password were good, they are the same ones i use on my phone for 3g. i`ve also tried HP support but they were not very helpful and told me to contact fido. i think this is more of a driver hardware issue than settings so i hoping someone here can help me out. thanks

do youneed to register sim card # with fido ?

im using the same sim that i am using on my phone. i talked to fido today and asked if i need to add the device imei to my account and they said that it should just work with teh fido apn and my sim card.
is there any chance this device is locked to rogers? ive read that these are not suppost to be locked but im not sure. if it is locked is there anything i can do? -
Some models cannot be switched , they are locked into the carrier .
