I have a Hp pavilion laptop. I dont know why, but now when I start it it asks me to enter a Power-on password. I don't know what is this.

That is a password manually added in the BIOS to prevent access to the machine. Either you added this or someone did it for you as a joke. I suppose it's also possible you stole the machine, lol.

Try just hitting OK with no password in the box.

thank you Brian. I didn't steal the computer; actually is my daugther's one. Probably she managed to add the password, but she says she don't remember doing anything like that.

By chance do you know how to reset the BIOS and delete that password?

    Appreciated.

With the zv5000z's, if you take the user-accessable SODIMM out there are two pads visible that appear to "lock" together. Shorting the pads together resets the BIOS. I'm not sure about other HP machines.

Try removing the battery, unplugging the laptop. Then hold down the On button for 2 minutes. Reboot, it should reset the bios to defaults.
