    Hello...

I'm new user here... But I don't speak very good english. So, sorry for my english in advance.

I have an HP DV6560 and I have a problem with my battery. She discharge when the laptop is shutdown (no stanby). Have you already have this problem ?!?!

All drivers are installed and updated.. bios, chipset, etc..
For information when the laptop is shutdown no alimentation is activ, I have tryed with un mouse USB.

Juste again, the battery discharge only when is plugged in the laptop. But when is plugged off, the battery no discharging.

Maybe is the remote control option who discharge ma battery when my laptop is shutdown, but I don't disabled this option in the BIOS..

Thank you very much for your help.

If it discharges in like a week, it's normal. If it goes dead in just a day or two, you should give HP a call.

I'm not sure what you first language is but you English is a lot better than my second language--Spanish.

Anyway, let me be sure I understand what you are saying: It sounds like you are saying the battery is discharged when the machine is turned off but only when it's plugged in?

He says that the battery discharges inside the laptop even when it is shut down, but when the battery is removed from the laptop, it doesn't discharge.

If the laptop would be plugged in it obviously would charge. :p

This isn't exactly normal now is it?

In any event, now I suggest he remove it overnight to determine if the drain is coming from the computer.

If the drain occurs in a week or more, it is normal.

The battery discharge only when is plugged off.

Just in case. When the laptop is shutdown and unplugged. I can start the laptop with the HP remote control. Its means who have some thing run on the laptop... You know what I mean ?!?! May be is it possible to disable this option (To start the laptop with the remote control)

There must be an option in the BIOS.

Can you reset the BIOS to default?

HP's BIOS setup program doesn't have many options really. In a regular BIOS the setting should be available, but unfortunately i don't think that's the case with our notebooks.

The infrared port shouldn't use that much power, but every laptop differs. I use my laptops often so i didn't notice this behaviour, but i did leave my DV5 shut down with the battery inside for a month or so, and it still had about 30% when i used it again. Mine does not power up from the remote though, so i think your theory is correct.
