Recently i turned on my notebook and after the compaq logo appeared it went black and this strange clicking sound began. Once it continued maybe three or four more times the screen went blank and then "operating system not found" popped up.

i have tried all my restore cd's but it hasnt helped at all...

    any suggestions?

Your hard drive probably is dead or is dying.

It might easily be a virus but if you can't boot from the CD, it's the HDD
