I am planning to buy an HP Pavilion from a brick and mortar store. Do any of you know, if I did this, can I still get the extended warrenty with accidental protection from HP? Or am I stuck with having to purchase the stores own protection plan?

    thanks
    Patty

    Yes, you can.

Infact I just did exactly that couple of months ago with my V3019US purchased at Circuit city and bought the extended warranty from HP 11 days before the standard 1yr warranty was about to expire.

miner is right, you can buy the extended warranty even if you purchase the laptop from a reseller. I definitely recommend getting the warranty with accidental coverage as well, because you never know what could possibly happen.

I agree. Also if you have the extended warranty, it becomes much easier to sell your laptop if you want to upgrade in a year or two.

I never get protection plans... I always roll the dice and hope for the best. So far, in the past 15 years, I've saved myself tons of money.

Then again, after three or four years, I normally take my old pc and donate to a kid going to college. In other words, I have no resell plan.
