Or you could get a card to plug in. I use headphones. Cheapest solution.

I am surprised, because these are best speakers sofar in all laptops I have used, that includes, Apple G4 lappie, Toshiba Harman kardon speakers. I myself can not tolerate static in sound( returned few Mother boards for static in Audio), it is possible your system has some problem.

It is unlikely you get those noises from speakers, rather from sound card, so I doubt if a headphone can cure it. But again good headphones always sound much better than built in speakers.

If nothing else works, you can buy one those USB audio card( very small, reviewed here in this forum). it even has digital audio out.

At higher volumes the speakers seem to not hold a very good sound. At lower volumes they sound great. Try lowering the system volume somewhat, but raise the wave volume more toward the high point. For little speakers, they are actually very good, but will not get you the same quality a good pair of head phones will.

Can't say Lansec is one of the best, but sounds really good. Every speaker will have some kind of noise if you use peak vol. Lansec is really loud, so normally 30%~40% is enough for me.

hhmm, could it be my laptop is faulty?

when i put on headphones, the sound quality is fine. Ofcourse it's not as good as my soundblaster card on my PC or mp3 player, but it doesn't give me as much static/fluffy noise

    Maybe my system is faulty?

This is the way to cop with pk_volt's tunned ears. Your ears might be tunned by those good (large) speakers. But you need to compare with other lapy's speaker for apple to apple comparison.

soundblaster zs pcmcia. ok, 3. You can still use it with the built in speakers for music. But when playing a video, the sound is actually behind by about 2-3 seconds. So you have to use headphones or external speakers connected to the zs. Thats the disadvantage.

My experience has been otherway. Keep the wav sound at 50% and vary the Master volume control. What I observed is if you push the Wave to the top, some songs with strong base will have odd buzzing from speakers, but you can get same volume without buzzing by keeping the Wave at 50% and increasing the master volume.
