Every time I try to shut down my hp dv2000t, the error message-'qlbctrl.exe needs to shut down' pops up.

There is nothing wrong with the quick play buttons and all features work fine.

A google search did not show up anything useful.

Can someone advise me how I could fix this.

    EDIT-PROBLEM SOLVED..SEE DOWN

Have you tried reinstalling Quicklaunch?? I dont get any such errors upon shutdown, so it mght be somthing software related.

I posted about this on anther thread. My problem disappeared on it's own after about 2 weeks. Maybe I installed software that disabled this, but I can't remember exactly.

Thanks for the help. But all it did was create a new X drive with 1gb space which appears under My computers.
    :(
The error message is still here. Please help!

I may have disabled qlbctrl.exe from loading at startup, here are two possible locations:

Start > Run > msconfig > select "Startup tab" > uncheck any references to qlbctrl.exe loading at startup

Right-click "My Computer" > select "Manage" > expand "Services and Applications" > select "Services" > find any references to qlbctrl.exe > right-click "Properties" over the line item > change "Startup type" to "Manual" using the drop-down box

Note: I also installed drivers and software for the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse which completely took over my mouse and touchpad settings along with many other controls I'm still unaware of ... maybe it disabled qlbctrl.exe as well

    Problem solved.
Previously I was running four antispyware programs- Spybot, Ad-aware, SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard.
Yesterday I installed Windows Defender, so I felt I did not need the other four programs. Uninstalled the 4 and voila the error disappeared.
It does not make sense to me, but hey I aint complaining
