How much memory does it have? I don't see it listed on the new laptop description.

as far as i know, it is integrated. AS far as how much system memory can be used, no one seem to know. But, somehow that didn't hold me back from ordering mine tonight...

I just bought a DZ8000Z. How do people normally upgrade on a laptop, via PCMCIA or another port?

well, with the dv8000, and many other laptops, you can upgrade the Hard Drive, Memory, and the wireless card. Usually the HD and memory are the first to be upgraded and the dv8000 has two drive bays so that can be upgraded too.

Oops, I meant to say "how to people upgrade the video card on laptops".

I assume a PCMCIA type video card can override a video on the chipset, correct?

Nope, most laptops sold do not come with upgradable video cards since they are custom built to the specification of each manufacturer. There are some modular technologies like MXM, Axiom but they are far away from being adopted by mainstrem brands. PCMCIA is just used to power expansion cards like extra USB ports, firewire, TV turners, external Wifi cards and cannot provide the bandwidth required for a modern day video card.
