    hey,

    i was reading thru some of the posts on student discount and i got the impression that if we apply for the 6% student discount..then we are not eligible for the free upgrades on wireless lan, hard drive and so on...is this true..if it is it really blows...

    btw wat is the standard battery life on a zx5000..i was wondering if i shud get 12 cell battery instead of a 8 cell one..

    thx

    I presume you are talking of the student discount at HP.com
    I dont think thats true. You get all the goodies even with student discount. You can even apply any existing coupons and can get the price even lower.

    I ordered the zx5000 sunday night with the student discount. There was no free wireless upgrade, but there was the free hd upgrade and its still in my order. I got the student discount, the free hd upgrade, and $100 off coupon code. And I just called and they told me I'd have no problem getting the $100 mail in rebate.

    Yeah when I got my laptop, several months ago, I was able to get free upgrade to 15.4" screen, and then combine with 10% off coupon, 100.00 mail in rebate and 6% APP

    zx5000 :: 2.4M :: 512 DDR :: 40gb 4200 RPM HD :: 15.4" :: Radeon 9600 Mobilty M10 :: Aquamark3 22,856

    Cool, we ordered on the same night. Maybe we'll get receive our orders at the same time as well :). To clarify, the 2200 Wifi card now costs $50 more than the 2100 Wifi card, when I ordered I coulda sworn it was the same price (+0 switching between them).
