Even if you uninstall some of the bloatware programs, it won't help your computer that much. The only way to truly help your computer's performance is to do a clean install. So you should grab yourself an OS disk and reinstall.

If you really don't plan on doing that you should keep Quickplay if you use it and the Quicklaunch buttons.

Why do you say that uninstalling HP bloatware will not help in increasing performance? The only artifacts left behind by a not-so-thorough uninstall of a program would be some files on disk (doesn't affect perf.), and some extra registry entries (not a big run-time hit). A perfect uninstall though, would not even leave these behind.

I uninstall, then clean up the file system, then clean up the registry.

Of course I backup before and after. ;)

You obviously haven't gone through this process before then, because if you have you would know that no uninstall is perfect and their are registry entries left behind. Even if you clean up the registry, the damage has already been done.

Ask anybody in this forum which is better and you will find that a clean install will win hands down.

Registry entries are not really that critical if left behind. I only clean them up to satisfy my obsessive-compulsive nature. Alas, in spite of it all, I am still a failed perfectionist.

A few registry entries left behind by around 10 relatively simple programs, is not going to noticeably impact registry file size and performance. It is the crud that you accumulate over years, by installing lots of "heavyweight" programs (think MS Visual Studio) that bloats the registry, and impacts performance.

IMO, a clean install for removing a small number of registry entries that *may* have been left behind by the un-install, is overkill.

Test it yourself and you'll see the difference.
