questions regarding HP shipping

i know i have already talked about this topic on many of the official threads in HP but i just want to get more input on this. i ordered my dv4t on the 15th and the order status says that the expected ship date is the 26th. somebody who ordered on the same date has already had his shipped. is it normal for this to happen, where two person orders on the same date but one ships earlier? have any of you guys have experiences where HP was late on shipping the laptop? thanks

 

I've had that happen before. When these types of problems occur it is usually due to a shortage of a particular part. That person may have ordered something that is readily available unlike where you ordered something that is on back order. If it isn't shipped today, then it will be shipped within a week after the estimated date.

 

thanks. any idea which parts may be on back order? has this happen a lot in the past?

 

You ordered your notebook in midst of the recent introduction of the new notebooks and when students are going back to school. :X

 

i do understand that but why do i see people, who ordered the same date as i did, get theirs shipped out earlier then mine.

 

First come, first served basis.

 

also from your past experiences, will HP e-mail me the tracking number before the status on the website is changed or is it the other way around.

 

They will email you to notify you your laptop shipped. Then you can track your package.

 

i meant do they update their status from "in production" to "shipped" first or do they e-mail you the tracking number first. also does HP ship laptops out on sunday from China?

 

I ordered my laptop on the 16th which was a fri. The expected ship date was the 25th. And guess what: i got it today: the 25th.

So you can expect to get your laptop by the ship date. Both Fedex and hp were pretty impressive.

wow that's pretty fast. and do you mean 16th is a saturday? i ordered on 15th which was a friday and the status still says in production

 

I think that they do both about the same time. Not sure about Sunday shipping. Mine was picked up by fex ex on Saturday, and I am supposed to get it on Wed the 27th according to the tracking.

 

now i know it's not shortage of parts since i just e-mailed them and they said they are not having any shortages

 

thanks just saw that it was shipped. the wieird thing now is that the tracking number for the laptop looks like it is not enough digits. can i know how many digits your tracking numbers were?
