Hello, I have a HP pavillian dv9074CL notebook. I started it today and and quickplay and volume control buttons and not working. The blue lights are all on except the volume and mute buttons are not (normally I would hear chirpping when I touched them). I am running windows XP. I have recovered the notebook. Its like I just took it out of the box. Still not working. I can use quickplay going though the start menu and the volume works when I play a dvd but not on touch pad. Can anyone PLEASE help me?

Take the battery and ac power out, after powering down the laptop, then put them back in. This 'resets' the quickplay buttons, and they should work again. Happened with my 6910p, was absolutely stuck for ideas (but short of re-installing windows as thats too much of a hassle for me), then came across this solution on the HP support forums.
    Cheers

Double check everything is fine (USB ports and all ports etc)

Did they scratch your laptop at all? they seem to use a crowbar to open it up from what i hear
