i have a dv6599ee, and i have successfully installed XP Pro on my laptop thanks to the tutorials on this site. now i would like to use the quickplay buttons but dont know how (the blue Quickplay and dvd buttons on the upper left). and also , do any of you know how to assign the blue buttons on the upper right (the back, play/pause, forward and stop buttons) to for example VLC, or even the WMP? thanks for the help! :)

If you are willing to use Winamp, I believe you can remap the buttons to launch winamp through the Winamp hotkey utility. I havent tried this myself but have seen this being offered as a solution in the forums.

Alternatively give older versions of the Quicklaunch buttons a try. From what I can remember HP removed the remapping functionality with the updated version of Quicklaunch. Ofcourse there is a caveat in that the old versions might not work with the newer systems or Vista but if you want to give it a try; download and install the 6.00 G2 version of Quicklaunch buttons software. This should allow you to assign the Q and the DVD button to open any software you want.

thanks for the reply, i tried installing the hp quicklaunch 6.00 g, i saw the option to remap the quickplay Q button and dvd button on the top left but it did not work, and also the clicking sound when i volume up/down was gone, but it was still working. so i just reinstalled the latest one for now till there is a solution for this.
