My dv9220us quick play volume control lights randomly go off and won't go back on again unless I shut down my laptop and remove the battery. I have no idea what is causing this. It seemed to have occurred after I updated my quick play to the latest version. I uninstalled quick play and went to an older version, but this didn't help. I also tried reinstalling my quick play quick launch buttons, but this didn't help either.

Has this problem occurred with anyone else? Does anyone have a fix for this?

    John

I have this problem also, as do many others from what i have seen by reading various threads. One guy has suggested that it happens when you press the left Alt or Windows key which could be entirely true, i have not noticed a pattern yet. It is pretty annoying. I think it is a hardware fault and nothing to do with installing quickplay button drivers or whatever. I don't think there is anything a user can do to fix it except take the laptop in for repairs. That is the conclusion i have come to anyway. I would love to be proven wrong.

i have these problem and happens when i pressed the zone near the 3,4,5d,f,g, in my case the light when on only with a bios flash. The problem disapear when i push really hard that zone (perhaps a losing contact or something).

My dv6000t CTO (had it for about 1.5 years) exhibited these problems a few days ago. I had to remove the AC adapter and batteries, replaced them after a few seconds and the buttons worked afterwards.

The problem still comes up from time to time and I have to remove the power again to get the QP buttons working.

Something like that is definitely a hardware problem and has nothing to do with the software on the laptop. It would definitely be something you need to send in for repair.

I have a DV6000 myself. My lights went out after I first upgraded the Quick Play software. I upgraded the BIOS to F-3d and then it is fine for a while. I have not found a defintive fix either. Reflashing the BIOS corrects the problem temporarily. I too have not determined a pattern to it. I have updated the QP play buttons as suggested by HP and I have restored my PC to factory defaults as suggested. The lights still go out on occassion. A BIOS flash fixes it again.
