hi guys.. i own a dv4000 and just wondering how can you play a dvd in widescreen format through quickplay.. i'm attaching picture so u guys may know.. quickplay.jpg that is attached is taken using quickplay.. you can see the video is not played in widescreen there's a black portion on the side.. while on bootingupXP.jpg using the software and booting up windows it's widescreen. There's an option what video you opt to see (pan, normal, widescreen) in the software included in the notebook, I think it's interdvd, just wanna know if this choices are also available in quickplay or it just plays that way? thanks guys..

I don't know about HP specifically, but those quickplay features on other machines use a Linux boot that does not support the full resolution of your display. I'd guess that's the case here, that's one of the reasons why that feature really isn't as impressive as marketers make it sound.

It looks to me like in the first picture, it cuts off the top so that it fits horizontally (looks like pan and scan) and in the second picture, it is the maximum size without having to cut anything off.. But what you're showing doesn't look like a widescreen DVD (or at least the menu isn't widescreen).. Are you sure you have the right disk in? I have the first Shrek movie and it came on two disks. I think the first was not widescreen, and the second was.
