hey,
just upgraded to vista and i only have one problem. i tried to record a short video using quickplay but when i play the video back it plays at super speed.
does anyone know how to fix this?
as much as i find watching myself in fast forward very amusing it's slightly annoying!
thanks

ahahahahah maybe you can use a slo-mo software

I purchased a dv6245us for my son. I have the same problem with this one. When you record if you move at all picture is all a blurr when you play it back it's in a 3x,4x play back. Have been fighting with hp about this for over a month. They say it's something with vista and that they are trying to fix it. Big deal after spending over a $1000. bucks on this
-
given the lack of response to this thread it appears that it is quite an uncommon problem. lucky us, lol!
at least it takes pictures, maybe if i take a lot of them i can flick through them really quick and i might end up with a normal motion picture, lol!!
-
actually, it happens to mine as well. i've had mine for a little over a month. i didnt think anything of it because i use the webcam through windows messenger and it doesnt do that or lag much, which is more important to me
so i'll keep my eye out for an update, but its not hurting me much at all -
I have the same problem with my new DV9207. Slow framerate during live video and the playback is super fast. I contacted HP and they said they are "working on the fix". What???? Working on a fix AFTER they sell something to us??? I am angry that they would put this in the stores knowing full well that the webcam is broken.
-
they have no excuse - they have been well aware of the change to vista for a VERY long time, its embarrassing!!! i've actually now heard of a few people with webcam issues, does anyone have a fully functional webcam with vista?? i think they'll need to start working a bit faster on the fix if they are going to save themselves a flood of complaints and returns!

Same problem here. I can record video fine using the built in webcam on my HP Pavilion dv2000 series (dv2310us) laptop. When I play it back, however, it's way too fast.
Weird thing is, the speed of the audio is fine, but the speed of the video is at least 2 or 3 times too fast.
This happens regardless of whether I record in mpg, avi, or wmv; and it happens regardless of what software I use to record.
I'll post any updates here if I find the solution - please do the same! Thanks! -
Excerpts from my latest chat transcript from HP (it goes right along with what the rest of you were saying):
This is known issue that occurs in windows vista... There is work around going on in the research departement for this issue hope we can expect an fix on this issue... I will escalate this particular issue and make sure that there would be any update available for this in future... it may take some more time as we don't have the exact time frame, the HP engineeers are doing research on this. -
I've just checked this (my webcam is working at the moment - completely at random - earlier today it wasn't working at all) and the video recorded in QuickPlay was 6 times shorter (faster) when played back than the time that I recorded for - 42 seconds of recording became 7 seconds of high-speed video.

UP !
Any fix or update please ?
Thanks

Since last post on 3/29 have called hp everyother day with no help. Last call tech was sending it to level 3 tech support the person was buzy so they took my number and would call me right back. Needless to say never heard from them again. Everyone has to keep calling hp cosumer relations and complane.

Well, at least you get to watch the whole movie before your battery dies.
If you watch at regular speed and your battery dies right in the good part, that's annoying, too.
appreciate what you've got. lol, I just had too, sorry.

guess I'm just another poor soul with the same problem. Playback is way too fast. makes me wonder if HP even does any product testing before releasing them to the market. Althought it's not a huge problem, but at least I paid for the damn thing and I expected it to work.
Of course I contact HP tech support for help, the problem persists. It's kinda funny how tech support guys suggest to reinstall the driver via the recovery manager. Come on now, any person with a bit of computer knowledge would have thought of that. We called tech support for help, not for Computer 101 crash course from someone named "Stephanie" or "Mark" from India.... -
Just got off the phone with hp again same old run around They said someone will get back about this problem. Loaded some new driver updates but still no help.
-
I'm having this problem as well. My webcam works fine with other programs like Skype when video chatting, so perhaps the problem is with Quickplay.
-
HP finally called back. Sending me a box and fedx lable to return the notebook. They say probably web cam has to be replaced. I called this number to complain 1-800-756-0608 option 7. Person I talked with seemed to wan't to help with this. In the mean time I was given another new case number. We'll see where it goes from here. Everyone should call that number and keep calling and complaining you might get some action.

Any updates. I had this same problem with my new DV6000z and now I'm having it with my DV6000t. It makes me think that this is a universal problem amongst these laptops. I'm about to try recording with different software.
