    You should receive an operating system CD with your notebook. I just got mine two days ago and it came with the OS Windows Media Center Edition. So you shouldn't have to worry about CD keys or purchasing a disk.

    Ummmm... HP isn't offering an option (has stopped) the option for the OS-re-install disc. (as of a few days ago)

    Addtionally it's "extra"... NO discs will come with the unit as the unit has a "recovery partition"...

    Only option (last time I checked) was for the System Recovery DVD (restore disc)

    The recovery partition sucks. It will be no good if you have a HD crash.

    For this reason, I wll not buy from HP again and they are cutting corners by not offering a CD recovery.

    HP cutting corners by not offering a CD recovery?

    .. You mean OS-re-install disc.. right?

    Recovery partition is a good option to have for those wanting to put their system back to "stock".... dealing with warranty issues...

    Recovery CD /DVD, ditto...

    That's about all they're good for.

    FYI for those that don't know.. Since Hp started shipping units with a on the hard drive "recovery" partition.... the DVD "recovery" Cd (DVD) is created by the end user... option to order with factory created "System Recovery DVD " now being the only option.

    BTW people, it's better to create 1 or 2 dvd's than 12+? cd's... One of the set is bad you're screwed.. ;)

    Was just reading a thread the other day some fool created via CD's... and one of the set was bad...

    @spitfire
    where did U buy Your notebook? USA or UK??

    @viperjts10
    How did U manage to get that disk?? I tried conntacting (although UK) HP and there CS is really s*** in terms of knowledge. Why they don't employ native Englishmen instead of those weird speaking Indian people that dont have enough knowledge to deal with your querry.
    [don't understand me bad, I have nothing against Indian people]

    Pretty sure the dv9000t is a USA only model.. could be wrong though.. Be careful about buying a model from a differant market if you expect warranty service... :eek:

    On that disc received by viperjts10

    viperjts10, please post the "model/sub model of your system).... and the part number and description of the disc.... Noting the DATE "ordered" and who you ordered the system from..

    Website does not give an option for the OS ONLY install disc... (see above posts) Only current "option" is for a System Recovery DVD (restore disc)

    that and 12 cds is a bit impractical.

    reminds me of the amiga 500 days when some games came on 16 disks.
