Hey all,
My notebook should show up to my office sometime tomorrow or Wednesday, I ordered it with another gig of ram and was just wondering if it is recommended to install the ram before booting it up for the first time.
Thanks.

Don't think it matters too much. With an additional 1GB of memory, performance should be better.

It will not make a difference either way, install it now or install it later.

Congradulations, You will love it. I have the 8510w which is very similar except for graphics card and warranty.
I have used it now for a trade show, and working at a customer site, and on an airplane. Very happy with it, very fast!
ENJOY! -
thanks guys, I am very excited. I have built and owned desktops for as long as I can remember, but this is officially my first notebook

Congratulation!
nicest choice so I think so far...
now anxiously waiting to Greg's review up-post.. -
I am not disappointed by this purchase, although I didn't actually purchase it
This computer is amazing, first thing I did was remove all the HP bloatware, the only thing I am not sure about uninstalling is the InterVideo WinDVD...anyone know if it's okay?
Other than that, no complaints at all. I added the other gig of ram and it made a good bit of difference. -
Hi, there..
Just to check if you were presented with a Vista 32 or 64bits during your 1st boot up? which will be wiser to choose? my license seem to come with 32bit but was presented with the above choice during my 1st boot.. wonder if its ok to boot to 64bits?
anyone any idea?
Thanks -
I did however run into a problem I am getting sick and tired of. Being a big gamer I am excited to use this notebook to replace my ancient desktop, but I am only able to use wireless to game, which means that while the wireless zero config is running I get 3 seconds of lag every 70 or so seconds. I am attempting to download the utility off of HPs site that runs the wireless card and I hope this works, does anyone have more experience in disabling the wireless config without losing the ability to see wireless networks? -
It does not matter
receiving my 8710p tomorrow
