i reformatted to xp pro awhile ago. i dled the bios firmware upgrade to version F.35. ever since i reformatted, my computer fan has been pretty loud when it wasnt even doing anything intensive. im not sure how many fans my computer has but you can definately hear it. its louder than the primary running one. when i was back on xp home, the fans only came on during games or when things got real laggy. now its just on all the time for no reason. what could be the problem? thanks

Go to power option properties and set it to laptop.

Have you checked your Task Manager for any program that is using 100% of the cpu resources?

My guess is that most probably a program is taking up some resources and bumping the processor to run at full speed. Or another thing might be that the processor is not decreasing its speed(Power Now) when it is not under use. You can check this by using Mobile Meter or CPU-Z. I have updated the BIOS & even re-installed my OS on my R3000 many times & have not come across this issue.

You didn't reinstall the AMD processor driver so power management isn't working. Do that, then set your Power Scheme to Portable/Laptop.

Or get CrystalCPUID and use it to manage your CPU speed and voltage instead, which also lets you undervolt the CPU. It's generally easiest to just install the AMD processor driver though.
