Not all XP drivers are easily found for your model of laptop. Here is a link to some of them http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=3548269&lang=en

To find the other drivers try searching this forum. The guys here have had all sorts of problems with downgrading HP laptops to XP.

Some of the people who posted here might be able to help.

Installing of a diagnostics program like Everest/Si Soft sandra may help identifying the hardware devices you need drivers for. Also try DriverMax (need to register but 100% free)

Good luck! You may well need it!!

Ah ha.. First problem allready! Fear not! You need the Hard Disk Controller drivers on a floppy disk and probably an external USB floppy drive.
1st we need to determine the manufacturer of the Chipset. We know your laptops model number is DV2660SE but what is the product number? This sould be on the sticker on the botton of your laptop that has the serial number on it.

You'll probably find its an Intel chipset.

Please post back with info. Ta

If you had read my posts properly you would have seen that I have asked for the product number of your laptop! I have also asked for the model number of your intel chipset! This information can help significantly in findind correct drivers. I have downgraded loads of laptops to XP and have 99% of the time have found all the drivers.

HerEsy, if you had checked your self before posting then you would know that HP do not provide all the important drivers on the product page for the related laptop!

With all respect If you do not want my help or think I am not capable then please do not ask for my help!

    :(

Firstly I didn't ask for your help.
Secondly that site would of provided many of the drivers sniper21 is looking for.
Thirdly this is what sniper21 wrote (any suggestion is greatly appreciated..thx to every one).
Finally I didn't know I wasn't allowed to suggest anything on this subject, I'm sorry next time I'll ask you if I can suggest something before I post!

Bit of confusion here! Sorry! The post regarding help was not actually directed at you but at Sniper21.

On the HP website there are drivers yes, but not the important ones which will be needed. Your suggestion is allways welcome and I'm sure Sniper21 will agree.

there is a sticky in this forum called "installing windows xp on the intel based dvx500 series" and this includes your laptop (the dv2660se)

in that thread, all the steps are included as well as most drivers that will work for your laptop. since you have dv2660 not all of the drivers will work but most of them will.

    use this for ethernet:
    http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?dId=175&pId=3

    use this for sound:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3195733&os=228&lang=en

after installing the sound, you have to restart. go into system properties in control panel. right click "PCI Device" and click update driver.

for more information regarding your laptop, see username "Typo" 's post under "dv2500 owners, read this" in the first post, on the first page.

you need to follow the directions carefully and accurately. every little bit. every little detail. im not joking. thats where most people messed up, because they didnt follow the directions exactly stated by me and all users who helped me in assembling/testing this guide.

    Driver Max http://www.drivermax.com/download.htm
You need to register, but it's free.
I have used this when downgrading HP laptops from Vista to XP. It may not find 100% of the drivers but may help for most of them.

When you have as many drivers installed as possible let us know what drivers you ar missing.

P.S. For audio you need to install the Microsoft UAA driver before the Audio package.
