    reformatting my v5101US

    Is there anything I should know before I do a clean install? Any recommendations or tips? Thanksss

    check the dv2000t reinstallation guide. i wrote it describing that i did to my laptop, but one guy here followed these procedures with his dv5000t and it worked perfectly.

    Make sure you got the Windows discs and drivers before you start.

    I dont think thre is any need to do all of that, the V5101 probably uses a IDE/PATA hard drive. Currently all Intel based versions use the SATA HDD. I believe only the newer dv2000z & V3000z(AMD versions) use SATA drives.

    All you need to do is have the clean Operating system and the drivers disc. Doing a backup of the SWsetup folder might be a good idea as well.
