okay guys just to be sure... is there any way to replace the brightview screen on a new standard sandy bridge Envy 14 (not the beats edition), with a radiance display used in the last generation Envy 14 model? if so, how would i go about doing this and would i need a new wiring harness? Thanks

No. This has been answered many times in the past few days. Different connectors mean the installation will be impossible. One other guy tried it and to his regret, damaged one of the screens.

dang that sucks. i was just making sure because i know this guy selling a radiance screen and he claims it would be really easy to install it in the new envy 14, and that i would just need a new wiring harness. the problem is i don't know where i could get this wiring harness

I think the guy you are talking about is on ebay. If so when I asked him if I could swap my screen from my envy 14 SB Beats to a radiance, he told me the same as to you.
And when surfing on this forum people say you can't.
I have read thousands posts but I can't find the post where one other guy tried to swap a radiance with a sb envy.
Does everyone know exactly why you can't swap a radiance into an envy beats ? first gen or SB ?

    A) Physically different
    B) Different wiring.

Are you talking about the actual radiance panel wiring or the entire lid assembly?

The BV wire is too short for the radiance to fit, also the BV cable leaves some critical pins unconnected.

The radiance is also physically incompatible with the BV assembly.

I didn't phrase my question properly; I have a complete 14" radiance lid assembly (lid + lcd) for an Envy 1xxx. Will that fit the new Envy 2xxx line?
Basically, trying to see if it is better to sell my Envy with the brightview and the radiance assembly separately.

Oh wait. If you have the entire assembly then you can swap it out, but there are no guarantees it'll work on the SB E14. It's worth a try
