    Hello
Before I format, partition and install a clean version of Windows 7, how do I retrieve the installation files for Adobe photoshop pre and pse and how do I retrieve the serial numbers?
    Thanks

Serial number is in the box of the installation CD or in the email when you purchased it online.

I was wondering this too..... It did not come with installation CD, so no serial numbers there, nor was it in an email when I purchased my Envy...

I'm sure the licensing agreement between Adobe and HP limit the software to HP licensed Windows installs only.

You can install the HP factory installed software on your own install of Windows. Basically like how the OEM version is tied to your motherboard, the same can be said for the licensed software.

yea, just call HP and if you need call the Adobe people. I see no problem, you paid money, you technically paid for the included serial number, so.... they should give it to you. Otherwise, I'd make a big deal about it, and get a refund/send computer back.

Has anybody figured this out yet? I didn't do a clean install but rather an MIR but even that removes Photoshop. Got the installer off SwSetup but its asking me for a serial number.

what? they give you no cd or serial number with it. Yea right. The first thing I am doing is a clean install. We paid for it they better give me a serial number.

All you do is go into registry editor and write down the encryption key (Adobe elements must be installed at this point) and then do a clean install, give adobe your encryption key, and then they give you your serial..thats it

Well thats great for anybody that will be doing one in the future. Do we know of any solution for those of us that already did our reboot? I didn't do a complete wipe and clean install. I did the the MIR.

Did you register the programs under your Adobe ID? It asks you to register it the first time you open them up. If so, you might be able to get a serial..if not then I you might have to do a full recovery again and then go back to the MIR

Check out the program called "Magic JellyBean" / "KeyFinder". It should find the product key, I believe.

Not sure it will work for a program thats no longer installed on the computer but I'll give it a shot. Just spoke with the HP rep and he said the only solution he was able to come up with was to do a complete system restore, retrieve the s/n and then re-do the MIR. Its completely ridiculous that they don't supply a copy of the product keys or s/n's for the software that has been bought by the customer.

I do have to say, though, the customer service rep was one of the best i have ever encountered at any company. I actually hung up on HIM when I was on hold because my dog started throwing up and he immediately called me back. Then, when I told him that I had to run out and couldn't stay on the line any longer, he asked me if it would be better if he called me back in 30 minutes, which he did. After all that, he then promised to call me in a couple of days to see if the restore had solved the problem or if he came up with another solution. I understand why folks have been angry with the HP supply chain as of late, but the customer service I just received completely blew me away.

I agree, HP's customers reps are nice, the only problem is that they know very little about your orders and things, so you can't expect to get much information from them.

Why don't you just make a back-up image of what you have now, and then do a full-recovery and retrieve the serials, then go back to the image you made. It'll take about an hour but it's really only about 10 min of your time cuz the rest it does on its own

Lucky you. The rep I had assured me that no Envy's ship with either adobe products. After I gave him my order number I was told that must be recently adding a TRIAL and only a TRIAL. He was 100% sure. I give up on HP customer service. Hopefully adobe will give me a key if I prove my order.

    Update:

Did a full system recovery back to original install. The good news; Photoshop Elements and Premiere are back installed. The bad news; still no way i can find to get the s/n's. The programs themselves don't provide them. Tried Magic Jelly Bean to no avail as well. Registering is a catch 22; can't get the s/n's online w/o registering but you can't register the product w/o the s/n's. On the phone w/ HP now but its late so I've got the B squad. Have a feeling I won't make much progress until normal business hours tomorrow.

The serial number will be encrypted with a number starting with '9'
Click Start > Run... type 'regedit'. (Press Windows key + R. Type “regedit” to open the registry)
: Click Hkey_Local_Machine > Software > Adobe product folder > Registration (for which you like to find SN#)
: Now, find "Serial" starting with '9' on the right side frame.

call or chat with adobe and give them that key, they will give you your serial. No need to waste time with HP

Would it be possible to export that key prior to performing a clean install and importing it later?

might work but idk for sure..do you mean to just export the registry and then import it back into the same location without entering any other serial?

the name of the folder is not "adobe products" its referring to whatever is the name of your folder..im guessing adobe elements or something

Thanks. Really appreciate the help. Back on the line with HP's A squad right now. Gotta say, the customer service folks I've talked since my 1st experience yesterday have not lived up to the caliber of that first rep. They keep trying to convince me that the programs are trial versions, which they are clearly not. Ultimately, my new goal is to have them ship me hard copies of the software if they can't give me s/n's over the phone. They sell Elements and Premiere as not pre-installed options on the Dv series so I know they have the discs.

Problem solved, no thanks to HP or Adobe. The story is long but in the interest of saving time I'll just stick to the solution. Utimately, nothing that HP or Adobe did helped me at all. The solution turned out to be in a freeware program called Belarc Advisor. If you still have Elements and Premiere on your system but are looking to do a clean install or an MIR, download and run this program and it will locate all the product keys and serial numbers for you. Register the products through Adobe and then run the clean install. You can then re-install Elements and Premiere using the acquired s/n's. If you are unlucky, as I was, and had already done the MIR, then you must do a full system recovery in order to get Elements and Premiere installed on the computer. From there you can repeat the steps I just mentioned. It was a HUGE pain in the but the only way I found that worked. Hope this helps anyone in the same situation. Good luck!

I figured out how to view your serial number. It's really simple and I can't believe no one has found out how to do this. It took me 2 mins to find it out ;)

    Open Photoshop Elements 8

    Help -> System Info

Should be third line from the bottom (shouldnt have to scroll down)

    Serial number: 9XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX5

For Premier Elements 8 I believe that the long number displayed when you goto Help -> About Adobe Premier Elements.. is your serial number based on what my serial number is for Photoshop Elements..

So I followed the instructions; installed using my serial i pulled with the app.

However, when launching PSE and choosing to open the EDIT part of the program, I am prompted for a serial. The one pulled with the app doesnt work.

    Anyone else get this?

    Find a serial number

Just register for an adobe account and register your products, it then stores it online so you can always access the SN.

Funny, that number string doesn't actually appear on mine but I can tell you that my serial number started w/ a 1, not a 9 like the Adobe rep kept trying to tell me. There are several places where you will see number strings that start w/ 9. One is if you hit the About tab under Help, there is a long string that resides in the bottom left of the screen that pops up. The other is, as you open PSE of PE, there is another long string that appears briefly that actually has the proper amount of numbers to be a serial number. Neither of them are. Trust me, run Balrc Advisor. It will give you your s/n's and, in my case, neither of them started with 9. It also will give you your Win7 product key.

Yep. Both Photoshop and Premiere work fine. Did you register them on Adobe's website? If the website took it then they are valid and you should be able to get help from Adobe.

Yup, I had the same problem, and the solution is going to drive you a bit crazy. Belarc will give you a different serial number if you run it *BEFORE* you open PSE or PRE for the first time than *AFTER*.

So, what this means is that from the factory state, you need to open both, and THEN run belarc. Otherwise, the serial number it gives you is wrong. Then, when you do the clean install, you can use the Serials with the install.

Do you have any ideas please? Thank you

I got my Premiere Elements 8.0 copy from here, it was links on the adobe.com domain. (I obtained my keys using Belarc)
Adobe Forums: All the links for PRE 9, 8 and 7

I got the photoshop from somewhere else, sorry I don't seem to have saved it. Maybe I URL-hacked one of the above links.

Anybody have such a link to Acrobat 9 Standard?

Anyone interested, I got the answer for this:

You might wanna look in the SwSetup\ folder in the C:\ drive (provided you saved it somewhere). Install the Photoshop / Premiere Elements 9 from there, and then check out the following files to get your actual working serials:

    Photoshop : C:\SwSetup\PhotoPIN\AdobePSE9.cva

    Premiere : C:\SwSetup\AdobePE\AdobePremiere9.cva

Open the files with notepad and check the line starting with
    Code:
    SilentInstall=
It will contain a serial number. That's the stuff!

Launch the apps and enter the serials you got when prompted. Et voilà! :D
