    I got a DV9417ca

I changed it over to windows xp. Everything seems to be working only drivers im waiting on is the quick launch buttons. The FTP server on HP did not have them up at the time.

Im trying to connect the laptop to a JVC AV-32050 throught the s-video. The s-video works on the tv and it is a standard 4 pin connector. I tried the laptop on a LG flat panel as well through the s-video still no go. I tried hooking up the laptop to the flat panel through the vga and it works.

When I hook up the laptop to the JVC I changed the setting to s-video and tried all the s-video pal-mtsc settings only one will give me a picture for a second and the signal drops. Whats funny is the picture is black and white and showing the desktop twice compressed on the screen.

I have tried several video drivers from different places. I have tried the fn-f4 key nothing. I read through the how to conect hp-compact laptops through s-video thread.

The only thing I can think of is the cabling or the adapter i am try to use is incorrect for this laptop. I tried the standard 4 pin svideo cable then a 9 pin nvidia VIVO adapter to the 4 pin svideo cable. Yes both of them work on other devices.

So could this be a issue where that only a certian brand cable or adapter will work?

Have you tried going into the video cards settings and checking the s-video output settings? Usually with S-Video (at least when I used to use it) you have to manually configure the video card and windows to output through the S-Video port to a TV.

Yup tried that also. The only thing I have to try is buy a 7 pin adapter to go down to 4 pin.

I have an dv8000 and conects to tv using an svideo(4 pins) to composite(one rca) cable, but with some old drivers my tv didn't show.
