    I've been checking mine for the past few hours and it seems to be pretty consistent in heat. I have not noticed it get HOT but it is quite warm.

    If I notice it get hot I'll let you know...going to leave it running a burn-in program overnight.

    I never noticed before but mine is pretty warm there also, been on about an hour.

    hp says heat is normal,?

    I believe that's the area where the FL Inverter is located. It converts the power to something usable by the backlight. This usually gets on the warm to very warm side. I don't think there's anything to worry about.
