I have a four year old compaq presario 2100us that up to now has been working fine. Lately my screen has been fading to white. This has happened four times in the last two months. I shut down the computer, push the reset button, power it up and everything is back to normal. I did a complete hardware diagnostic using Compaq Total Care, and it said there were no critical issues detected. Can anybody tell me why this is happening.

maybe your graphics driver is out of date?

Bringing this slightly to the foreground, did you ever find any resolution (I know it's only been a few days) to this? My Acer 8204 just did it, and while sure the graphics driver might not be the absolute latest and greatest, it's been working fine for the last 6 months so I REALLY doubt that caused it.
Oh, my computer:
Acer 8204, with ATI X1600 graphics card (just for reference, not sure what the original computer listed is). -
I would love to see an answer to this question... I am running a Compaq V2100, with an ATI Radeon Express 200
Today my screen started fading out to white...
Want to know if I've killed two laptops in one day as my HP Media Center seems to have blown it's inverter.
