I have one of the glossy finished dv2000's, and the keyboard spacebar has left a little thin scuff mark on the glossy finish of the lcd. I've tried cleaning it off with a damp rag, but it's not just dirt - some sort of scuff.
It's small, not deep, but noticeable. Has anyone had experience/advice on how to get the skuff off? Buff it? Clean it?

    Thanks
    Matt

I had the same thing happen to my new dv2500. The marks came off with a micro fiber towel that I had run under hot, hot water and then rung out. The marks came right off. I'm now thinking about crazy glueing a small rectangle rubber bumper of some sort over the current ones on the edges of the screen to lift the screen just enough to clear the keys when closed. I was really surprised that this type of thing wasn't found and corrected during the design process of the machine. As far as the machine goes, I love it but the small smudges are a pain.

Hot water and the micro fiber cloth does the trick for me as well

Looks like it's too deep a scuff for that - it didn't work for me. But I used some plastic polish stuff (can't remember which). Didn't really solve the problem, but fills it so that it just looks a bit oily when off, but you absolutely can't see anything when on. Good enough for me...

My dell had an even worse design flaw - the stupid rubber eraser mouse would dig into the monitor and not only scratch the screen - but there were lots of reports of them causing stuck and dead pixels there because of the pressure. I always had to put some stupid cloth down to avoid it - for 4 years until I got rid of that thing...

wierd, my dv2500's screen doesn't even touch the keyboard. maybe hp is inconsistent with spacing the rubber that keeps the two apart
