On my dv2000t with vista, the screensaver goes on after 5 minutes and the screen should turn off after ten. Yet, at 10 minutes the screen turns off for a second, then comes back as if a key has been pressed. I don't see any background processes that are causing this.

If I lock the computer, then the screen shuts off normally after 10 minutes. Any ideas?

I have the problem of the hp registration pop up, and I can't disable it in the task manager. However, this is not causing the computer to 'wake' because the pop up does not occur instantaneously.

    Thanks for the help.

You can remove HP's pop up bull**** from msconfig, start-up.
As for the screen, try setting another time (illogical but sometimes it does help). Or start closing the background programs one by one until you find the culprit.
Plus, install all Windows updates, it could be something Microsoft has already fixed.
