I've noticed that the DV1000 has many features that the V2000 doesn't, like the remote and Quickplay but it has one thing the DV1000 doesn't, the ability to scroll sideways on the trackpad.

Most laptops I've seen either have no scrolling option at all, or they only scroll up and down. This is the first laptop I've seen where you can scroll side to side.

I find it strange that they put more bells and whistles on the DV1000 but forgot this little feature. But I think its useless isn't it? The DV1000 has a wide screen so scrolling sideways really isn't necessary then is it?

I'd rather have Quickplay and the remote than the ability to scroll sideways.

Your 3rd and 4th paragraphs are very true, although the Dell Inspiron 9200, and in that case most likely the 6000 (since it is same case design) has side scrolling, if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry lapboy, I don't use Excel spreadsheets so I didn't take that into consideration and I'm going to use the DV1000 as a portable DVD player.

It doesn't really matter that the DV1000 can't sidescroll with the touchpad as I can always drag with the mouse.

I'm still wondering why the DV1000 has several features the V2000 doesn't, like two headphone jacks, Quickplay, remote control option, media buttons above the keyboard, etc. But then the V2000 can scroll up and down and side to side. Why didn't the DV1000 get this feature? Does anyone know if future revisions of the DV1000 will be able to scroll side to side?

Also, I'm wondering why so many laptop's touchpads can scroll up and down but only a few models like the V2000 can scroll side to side? Is there just not demand for that?

don't know about the horizontal scrolling, but the dv1000 is geared more towards the home/multimedia user while the v2000 is geared more towards the business user.
