i bought a hp 530 80G, 512 RAM vista brand new in Nov 07. Happy i was till i noticed that the USB ports selects what it opens. every time i stick in even a flash (there is currently 1 flash drive that opens in this computer), i'm asked to install the disc that came with it. Initially i thought it was due to inadequate updates. Till date i am up to date with my updates and have even been told by my friends to sell off the laptop. 2 USB ports in a bit insufficient but i was so happy to get a hp top. Even a USB dock doesnt get accepted! this is very faustrating. Is there ANYONE who can HELP!? My email is [email protected]

What does HP telephone support say when you call them?

This sounds more like a Windows Vista error than a hardware error, which means it's not HPs fault, but tech support should still walk you through it.

I bet in the end they will have you reinstall to factory defaults because their tech support isn't the brightest bunch. They basically read off of a screen steps to take and possible outcomes.
