"Important! Use of the Partner Services Media Library by individuals who are not authorized under partner programs is prohibited."

There goes an important resource. Can kind of see why they wouldn't want people disassembling everything and voiding their warranty (besides the obvious fact that HP would MUCH rather their customers paying HP to do any repair work rather than doing stuff themselves) but it would be nice if they made SOME of it publicly, like how to take out a HDD ect for a customer who is doing it within warranty.

Oh that is bad news. At least we still have the service manuals (for now).

I did notice that they removed a lot of the juicy stuff from the SML recently. Luckily I downloaded the packages before they did it. eg. for the 8710w I have the full disassembly including system board and LCD panel replacement, downloaded from SML last year. When I checked back recently, they had removed the option of downloading, and had cut back the vids to only basic items such as HDD and wifi card replacement.

Well, let's download every service manual from their site before that goes away too. What do you think? Everyone should post what they have in this thread, so we don't waste any bandwidth.

    I have:
    DV9000 series service manual
    DV5 series service manual

is this the service manuals youre talking about?

    http://h20464.www2.hp.com/default.htm

here all the videos are still available, luckily...

just some 3 weeks ago hp sent me a replacement keyboard for my 8510p in order to replace it by myself, providing me with the link to the hp media services library..

so is there any difference between http://h20464.www2.hp.com/default.htm and http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...e.compaq.com/plmcontent/NACSC/SML/default.htm ?

    i used the latter always.

really bad, especially when taking a look at the hp consumer/itrc forums with numerous posts about hardware failures daily..

Thats the SML, it used to be really good, but now those videos are only useful if you need to be shown how to replace something like a fan.

The service manuals are PDFs, in with the drivers etc. for your product on HPs site

That other link posted above doesn't have pavilion series even in it.

Is HP run from China now? - Commies
