What processor did you go with? If I may ask, out of curiosity.

But, as for your question, I don't think it'll be late at all, since you didn't go with Core 2 Duo.

It should be ahead of that schedule, actually, since most laptops and computers from HP are completed and shipped before the estimated date.

Yeah, then you shouldn't have any delay, as those aren't in demand like the Core 2 Duo are.

i woulda went with the core 2 duo but i didnt want to spend more bones.

the damand part of it might be true i dunno but i know that if you choose some different options for ur laptop and a core 2 duo that it says it may delay ur ship date, im not sure if its changed now or not.

    .

    Just configured a dv9000t on www.costco.com with the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz)

( www.Costco.com BTW is THE place to buy a HP PC... given that they have a 180-day NO hassle return window, no need to box it back up and ship it off and wait to have your credit card credited back, or have to fight restocking fees...)

HP direct gives you only 21-days  After that your stuck with it, if the unit has a problem...

    http://www.costco.com/CTO/HPConfigurator.aspx?Prodid=10029570&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&model=EZ379AV

Anyhow the shipping date with a CTO (Custom to Order) unit shipped directly from the HP factory in China ordered at 4 minutes to mid-night OCT 20th, 2006, would be Nov 2, 2006...

That being said, when I ordered a dv8000t in April 2006 it showed a "ship" date of the 12th, I ordered the unit the 3rd... unit was built by the 7th, picked up by Fed-Ex in China @3:54pm (after the Fed-Ex cut off) on Friday..... and it arrived on MONDAY by 8:30am...

Unit arrived two days before it was supposed to "ship".

    :D

Depends what model you ordered, if there is a backlog of orders, or parts.... And who you ordered it thru.

    Not all Core 2 Duo.

I think it was the T7600 chip that was back logged for a time. Not sure if it is still.

And refrain from cussing. Thank you.

Can't understand why  the top of the line chip, the fastest of the series would be backlogged. (Just kidding as they get what?, 10? chips out of 100, or a 1,000 that run at 2.33 ) ;)... Nevermind the fact that allot of people "have" been waiting for the Core 2 Duo to be released... so there's going to be some backorders...

    Exactly.

It's the best technology right now for notebooks, so all us geeks needed it. Hence the shortage.

actually, I'll bet all of these chips will run 2.33 at stock voltage. Desktop overclockers are having a great time getting these things to 3.0ghz easy on stock voltage. The Core series has a lot of headroom in it, Intel is merely holding back for marketing reasons, I'm sure.

Core Duo chips are all the same. It's true that they are tested and subcategorized into faster and slower chips, but when they all do the same speed, some are simply labeled as slower chips.

Intel chips are well known for having great overclock potential. For example most P4 2.4C's easily overclocked to 3.0gHz on stock voltage (with the correct ram, motherboard and some skill), the speed of a P4 3.0C. The desktop community is showing the Core Duo and Core Duo series to be similar to the P4s in overclocking ability and headroom at stock voltage.

My own T2500 does 2.0gHz at 1.0125 volts. Stock voltage is 1.25. If I had a FSB adjustment on this laptop I could run it at stock voltage and get a lot more FSB speed out of 1.25V. Easily another 300Mhz on stock voltage.

Yep... I know... Intel "may" label faster chips at a lower rating due to market demand.... and then again they may have a batch that really will only do a certain mhz rating before it has errors..

(One of my first jobs was making semiconductors)... Sometimes you have a batch of perfect chips, then sometimes not.)

What did HP say when you called them?

Costco sent me an e-mail when my unit shipped.... I would asume HP would do the same so people could "track" the package so they could be there to "sign" for it.
