Should I get the HP tx2500z or the HP dv5t? I'll be using the laptop/notebook for school (I'm a sophomore) and I want to know which one should I get and I will be getting them from Circuit City

Well these are two completely different notebooks. the tx2500z is a 12.1" tablet PC while the Dv5t is a 15.4" regular laptop. I think the answer to your question really depends on whether you plan to carry the laptop to class with you or not. If you are I would personally rather have the 2500z as it is smaller and would be better for taking notes in class due to the tablet features. If you plan on keeping the laptop mostly on your desk then probably the dv5t is a better choice. Good luck and happy computing!

don't get a tablet! dv5
-
Hey thanks for the help! I think that I'll be getting the HP tx2500z because it is an awesome laptop that is portable and at the same time it is an awesome tablet pc.
-
I'd go with dv4t if I were you... 14.1 inches..... not small, not big....
-
id go with the dv5t dont go with the tablet PC it wont work for you! and the screen is rubbish plus ur jst gnna take notes watch movies etc!
-
the dv4t is WAYYYY too expensive but if it weren't I would maybe get it
-
Why wouldn't it work for me? I heard the screen wasn't bad at all just that it has a glare/reflection problem
-
The screen, like all tablet pcs, is a little grainy. This has to do with the tablet pc itself to enable touchscreen. The glare problem is due to the glossy nature of the screen. This is a problem with all glossy screens. I would recommend that you go to a store that has the 2500z and look at it and see if the screen is acceptable to you. Good luck and happy computing!

The TX2500 is a great little tablet and notebook.... Totally happy with mine, the screen is a bit grainy compared to the best notebook screens out there, but it's totally acceptable, and has active and passive touch, which works great. Plus, the puma platform with the ATI HD3200 is a great little performer.

With the same specs as the dv5t you linked too the dv4t is about a $100 more.*
*Going through the academic purchase program. -
hey I'll have to look at that thanks
-
Now what do you mean by the "grainy" aspect of the screen? I still don't fully understand what that means when they say that the screen is "grainy."
-
Well it is just not as clear as you might expect. It is kind of hard to describe. Have you ever seen a copy machine that has a touchpad on it. It is kind of like that. Touchpad screens are made to be flexible and to stand up to constant pushing on it unlike regular screens and the way they are made they end up with this "grainy" look. Again, the best thing to do is to just go to a store and look at it for yourself. You then will be able to decide if the "grainy" look is acceptable to you or not. Personally, I don't think it is that bad but some people do.
-
If you compare the touchscreen with non-touchscreen monitors, the touchscreen looks slightly "mottled" or "speckled". It's not as sharp or clear as a non-touchscreen monitor.
It's not that bad, and I think most people won't mind it, assuming they even notice the difference. However, some people will be bothered by it. -
hey thanks I'll have to go check that out about the screen, although it sounds like I won't be bothered by it much
-
thanks I'll look at it when I go to circut city again
should I get the hp tx2500z or the hp dv5t
