I just got my Envy 17 3D last week and it has the minor warping/dent problem above the keyboard. Also the lid has a minor scratch.
After hearing so many of you guys have the same problem. I was wondering if any of you have returned and asked for a replacement?
I am now wondering if I should just keep this. On the good side mine has no dead pixels.

I myself recently returned my Envy 17 3D to HP for a new build to be here hopefully by January 15 or so...
I too had the "warping" issue on two areas. One to the right of the power button and the other below the HP logo. One of our members found the reason for these and the solution! All you have to do is open the battery compartment...you will see some screws...you need to loosen a couple or those affecting the metal casing... HP screwed them too tight and its sucking the metal top downward! Its a great easy fix. I returned mine also because there was significant seperation between the top metal on the right of the keyboard and the base.
If the scratch is bothering you much I'd go ahead and return it or exchange.. If you do exchange you are allowed to ask for $50 credit back, and many of us have asked for a free upgrade!!!! Good luck, and I would like to hear how this resolves. Let me link you below to the thread I made about Envy 17 3D issues. Best of luck!

So HP could not fix the issue you had? Did you not want to exchange for a new build auburnmk?
