Hi,
My laptop is kind of weird when I turned it off, it took almost more than half an hour to shut, and it would not shut unless I touched some keys, say Ctrl+Alt+Del (it pop up a task manager and then automatically closed it and turned off.
My OS is Windows Media Center. I haven't met this problem when I used Windows XP pro.
Any ideas what's going on with my laptop?
Thank you

That model has a NVidia card right? I would suspect the NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, it is known to have issues stopping itself when you ask for a system shutdown.
The actual service name is nvsvc32.exe but killing in it task manager won't help, as it will just come back at next reboot, so stop the service.
If you goto Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Services
and look for "NVIDIA Driver Helper Service" in the list. I would suggest changing the service startup type to "manual" instead of "automatic" and reboot. See if that changes anything for you.
I forget exactly what they designed this service to do, but disabling it has never caused any issues for me and typically fixes the slow shutdown problem. -
Thank you Crucible,
I'm gonna give it a try when I reach home.
