    Hello everyone, :)

I just bought HP Pavillion dm4 model 1090ee, the problem is that it does't resume from sleep. After pressing the power button, the blue LED on the power button and the red Wireless LED blink. The only way to get the system to start back up is to remove both the power cord and the battery. After performing the hard reset, the system boots normally. Note that the battery is fully charged, so this shouldn't be a battery-related issue. - the OS is windows 7 home x64. Please help.

BTW I already contacted HP's support but they weren't helpful.

Is this on the factory install or a clean install?

Power (AC) out, battery out, hold down power button for 30 secs.

Then put everything back in and boot up.

May not work, but worth a shot. Otherwise those blink lights are a warning code which would require motherboard replacement.

I have the same exact problem on my month old dv5. When it goes into stand-by mode, when I try to wake it the lights just blink and I hear a clicking noise when it tries to wake up.

It only seems to happen when the laptop is in standby for a longer period of time. If it just went to stand-by then I am able to wake it.

The really strange thing is that you can't just hold the power button and have the laptop shut down. Like the OP I have to unplug the power cord and sometimes remove the battery. I found a trick where if I remove the power cord, and hit the power button 3 times in a row and then hold the 3rd click it finally shuts down. It has to be timed with the flashing light and doesn't always work.

Just to provide an update here, I wound up returning my laptop for a full refund. I called HP support, they told me to do a hard reset ( documented here), but it didn't help. Almost made things worse, though I suspect since my issue was getting worse and worse as time went along, no matter what I did would've made it worse.

I'm leaving the Windows world and am going to try Mac next. I've been a Windows guy since Win 3.1 and finally had enough. Time to try something different.
