    I would do a clean install of Windows. Do not enable the additional 128mb video memory from Bios since you only have 512mb RAM.
    Further check the start-up list (msconfig) and experiment a little bit. Do you use Norton? It is cable of doing such stuff :(.

    Do you have Norton?? The ccapp errors are due to crappy Norton stuff. But if you dont have Norton or any Symantec software then it might be due to a virus/spyware. But I agree with vassil, it is always a good idea to reinstall OEM XP. It will generally get rid of any software problems.

    A healthy Windows XP shows 17-18 processes (mine does 17) when you press Ctrl+Alt+Dell.
    You see 30-50? Welcome to the club of those abused by "Symantec", "Norton antivirus", "MSN" and other "goodies".

    Don't clog your machine with all the progs that are bundled with it. You do not need to do clean install.

    just do this:
    Start->Run type in "msconfig".

    services:
    disable all non microsoft services except Radeon ones, your WiFi ones and remote packet capture. Enable some back if you see probs (like bluetooth missing).

    Startup: unselect ALL.

    With Windows XP you DO NOT NEED to use additional antivirus/firewall SF. (seriously, think about it: do you believe that Symantec or Norton programmers are so much better than WindowsXP ones, so that only they can make your computer secure?? Nonsense!) Just use common sense and do not execute suspicious files, it is that easy.

    ...and keep your XP up to date and enable all XP firewalls.
