i have a hp dv4t and for some reason whenever i startup a temperature monitoring software, the temps for the cpu does not change from it's initial value. so if i start the program and it says 30 degrees, it just stays there and doesn't change. i am not sure how this problem started. i don't think the temperature sensor could be bad since it still registers a temperature. what could tbe the problem?

It could be the program you're using. Another idea is that maybe the sensor isn't contacting the CPU. Have you tried stressing your CPU? That should raise the temperature; however, it is weird for the temperature to not move at all.

yeah i have tried different programs and they all stay at the same value. i have played a few games which should raise the temp of the cpu by a biit and it still didn't move. i mean it does show a temperature but it just doesn't update anymore after that.

I'm getting this same issue on my DV7T after a recent bios upgrade.

yeah i just recently upgraded my bios and i think that's what's causing this problem too. is there anyway to revert back to an older version?

check the folder for the softpaq with the upgrade, a backup should be in there. But this raises the question, why did HP disable temp checking in their new bios files?

yeah before upgrading i had the oldest bios that came with the first dv4t (f.04). i upgrade to f.22 and the problem started so now i am just using f.14. it's weird that HP disable the ability for the software to update temperature.
