I need your help how is a 13.3 inch screen quality in general?

is is as bad as many of 14.1s in general?

has HP ever had 13.3 inch models before?

or is it totally new area of market to HP?

    http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/20/hp-launches-the-13-3-inch-dv3000-laptop-in-asia/

I saw this model today at a mall in Bangkok, and I thought it would be cool to have this model.

I think this was designed to compete against the SZ and Dell XPS and it looks like it is much cheaper than similarly configured SZ and there is no XPS in Thailand so I think it is going to outsell all other 13.3 inchers here.

It's a cool laptop and definitely built well but I think many of 13.3 inch screens are not as sharp as 15.4s(the SZ LCD was horribly dim compared to the HP 15.4 or the FZ's). I wanted to see the screen and check memory .etc but I could not turn it on to see its screen, and so I dont know how it compares to the DV6707Tx.

The 15.4 inch HP had a great view angle and great color and I really love it, but in Thailand there are only 2 configurations for it:

    1 DV6706TX : T7500,4gb, Vista Ultimate, 250gb HDD, NV8400gs with 256mb, comes with a free mouse, a free laser printer and dock ,48900baht (about 1481US).

    2 DV6707TX : T9300,4gb,Vista Ultimate, 400gb HDD, NV8400gs with 256mb , comes with a free mouse, free laser printer and dock, 61300baht(about 1858US).

No other options , I dont need 4gb ram(2gb is enough for now) , and the 13.3 new model comes with many many configurations so I am interested in that one now.

Is a 13.3 inch screen in general as bad as the one on the SZ models?

Sorry for annoying you again but I need to decide if I exchange my DV2761TX or keep it by monday.

PS. the web site is wrong, that the DV3000 is already out here.

There are some good 13.3" displays out there and I wouldn't think HP would be silly enough to make the first batch of a new model with a poor display. Sensibly they would want to get some good reviews (and then might revert to a less good display).

However, since you say the SZ display (which is normally considered good) was dim, you may have high standards (or Sony uses a less good display in the SZs sold in your area).

If you prefer the 13.3" size then you might want to go for it. Presumably you can swap it if not happy?

HP has amazing LCD screens, some of the best I've ever seen, so I highly doubt that they would create a LCD screen on a new laptop with a crappy screen. Also, I don't know about the return policy out there, but HP in America has the 2 week no hassle return policy, where if you don't like it for any reason you can return it for a full refund.

Thanks , but do you know anything about LG or Samsung issue?

I 've heard that the 14.1 HPs use SEC Samsung screens and they are of bad quality like my DV2761TX.

But the 15.4 HPs are all LGs is that true?

If so is a LG LCD much better than a Smsung, an AUO or a Sharp?

Since you have a Samsung lappy , which is not sold here , I was wondering if it 's got a good screen or just an OK kind.

Usually a Samsung desktop LCd is great and very bright so I thought a Samsung laptop should have a nice screen.

Yeah, and they allow you to CTO in US , but in this country , there is no company allow you to customize.

But my local dealor is my friend and so he gives me a special deal and I can exchange it to another HP or a Toshiba but no others.

I like the 14.1 size but I think the 15.4 has much brighter screen as I caompare them at his store, I actually brought my friend's DV2766TX and comapre it to a DV6706 model.

I also check their LCDs , the 15.4 one had an LG LCD.

I 've heard a LG LCD in general is very good , some says much better than a Samsung in general ,is that true?

I ask this because in HD-TV business Samsung is a much bigger name than LG so I thought Smasung LCDs are much better than LGs.

Even though we might get to customize our models in the US, we don't get to pick and choose what manufacturer's parts go in the laptop.
