This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    i know most are lucky to get even satisfactory speakers on their laptops. i've got what i believe is considered a decent end laptop (dv7-1170us), and i know it's cheap and easy to pick up an external pair but hoped the speakers would suffice for when i don't have them with me or just need to or listen to something quick. at midvolume i'm getting something of a hum/buzzing. there also seems to be a subwoofer on the bottom of the unit, which is a first for me. i'm just curious if there's anything i can do to solve this without bringing in any outside gear.
