Just bought my first SSD for my dv7tqe. Just wondering if there are any bios settings that need to be changed on the dv7t to help out.

    Thanks!

I didn't need to change anything in the BIOS.

Just be aware your HP recovery discs won't work with an SSD since the discs will want to detect the hard drive the laptop came with. So you'll have to use a Windows 7 install disc and install your drivers via copying the SWSetup folder.

Also it wouldn't hurt putting the SSD in the primary hard drive position although that might be completely unnecessary and I went through the trouble for no reason. :p

you can simply make an image of the hdd the laptop came with, and restore the image onto the SSD. as long as you make sure that it doesn't mess up the alignment (e.g. use acronis 2011 or later), it works perfectly.

In the BIOS you have to select ACHI when installing an SSD. Cloning is the best way of doing it. When you replace the HDD the laptop will recognize the new SSD drive. I use Acronis to clone, saved a lot of headache to reinstall everything back.
