    Hey guys.

I just wanted to ask for your thoughts on this.

I ordered a 9500 Unit from HP around September 16. It's supposed to be ship on the 25th.

I got an update on the 24th that it was already shipped - got a tracking number from the site - but when I clicked on the link or even check the tracking number on the fedex site - no news or information can be given to me.

It's been two days - well almost three and still no update from FedEx - I contacted Live Chat and they told me that theres still storm in China - though if the storm has affected the shipment, then how did they get a tracking number (just some weird random thought I asked myself).

My biggest worry is that the laptop has to be with me latest October 2 - I don't know if they'll make it. I'm pretty worried. :(

    Thanks again.

There was a typhoon in China. I'm sure HP and FedEx are very sorry and will never allow that to happen again.

I know you've waiting a long time but just be "more" patient and it'll arrive sooner or later. One day you'll be sitting in the front room and you'll hear "the truck" pull up and you'll say "Yeah, it's here it's about time!" with a smile on your face. :)

Hey guys thanks for your replies - I know you're all just trying to comfort me. Thanks :D

My biggest worry though is that it has to arrive latest October 2 - you think it'll reach me by that time? (extreme worried look)

jflucena, I have same issue as you with dates and tracking number (but I don't need my computer by a certain date). I talked to FedEx International today. The weather issues in China have caused a backlog. No information from FedEx, even though you have a tracking number, indicates that they do not have the computer in their hands, even though HP is done with it - boxes probably sitting on the other side of the factory door. FedEx will post information as soon as the boxes hit their hands. Hope you get yours in time.

I had similar experience few days ago. I ordered mine on 12th and HP shipped it on 19th. However, due to Typhoon Wipha in China, FedEx’s website did not show anything till 21st. But on the good side, it was delivered on 24th and I had 5 to 7 day shipping.

So, hang in there. If it comes too close, ask HP to upgrade your shipping.

My computer was shipped on Monday the 24th, but the backlog in China kept it sitting there until 9/27. That's when the shipping information appeared on the Fed Ex website. Now how about this: I live in San Jose, CA. The computer went from China, to Anchorage on Thursday, then to Indianapolis and onto San Jose Friday. So I figured that it would be delivered Monday. However, I just checked it now, and it has gone BACK to Indianapolis. Does this make sense to anyone? I wonder if it is going back to China for some reason. I suppose that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world considering the new 30% coupon...

Here are the details from the website:

I'm having the same problem. I ordered on the 21st, and I just got my shipping number earlier today, but the fedex website has no info on it. Hope it can be shipped soon..seems like the wait is taking months.

same thing happened to me, it took like 3 days for the tracking number to start working.. when it finally did, it was in the morning before i went to class. it said it was in anchorage... so i was like cool, it'll come in a couple days.. went to class and came home.. and i had an attempted delivery slip on my door and i was like @#$!. then i drove to the middle of nowhere to the fedex facility which took forever because my directions told me to take a left when i should have been taking a right. fu fedex@@

HPGUY...i'm in the same boat you're in. I ordered mine on the 22 of september and i got the shipped out email on saturday morning and i dont even have any info other than a useless tracking number. UPS is much better when it comes to keeping track of their shipments. let me know as soon as you have any info. I do have to say though, that this is the second website where I see countless forum posts stating that there was little or no information on tracking and then the fedex guy just appeared at their door. i think this might be the samecase with us.

oh another thing I spoke with fedex and hp and hp told me that fedex's site was down and their tracking number wasn't working properly. i talked to fedex and they said that they have not received any information on it other than a tracking number then he was like well just go to the tracking website and put your # in and that should show you the status...i was like wtf.

I, and along with quite few others, were in the same situation you guys were in when the typhoon delayed our shipment. I think all of us has received our laptop since then.

Ya it takes awhile to get the package picked up and into Fedex's database. My hp dv9500t was sent on Friday 21, 2007 and the fedex website didnt list my package until Tuesday Sept 25, 2007. I got my laptop on Friday Sept 28, 2007 so it took a full week to get here from China (fyi - I'm in Oregon).

It sucks I know, I try to be patient but it is frustrating to wait and wait for your new toy.

Hey guys. Forgot to tell everyone that I got my laptop Friday, September 28.

The FedEx site took a while to update but when I got an information that it was already in Alaska, I think it just took them another 12 hours (up to a day) til I got an update that it was already in Indiana (where it should also be delivered).

FedEx delivery people were a bit early so no one was at home when they first arrived but they did come back a few hours later (around lunch) and my laptop was already received (cheer).

I do hope everyone's laptops get to their's places safely.

They must have held out for fedx to show up... mine said it shipped sat as well... got the notification today... will arrive on the 8th.

I had a "completion date" of 5 oct and "paid for" (got free) 5 to 7 day shipping, so this is right on target, if not a little sooner since weekends don't count. Almost like one day shipping, if you don't count the weekends... I was not looking for it until the 11th or 12th.

I would go with the flow... no big deal on shipping dates or times, all a guess anyway... sure they had a lot of orders given the rebates they had.

Don't know if it is still good... doubt it, but you can try... they might still have a 20% er someplace on the net if you search "hp coupons" or "hp rebates."

HP emailed me 4 days ago telling me my laptops shipped but fedex's website still has no record of them. Are these laptops being assembled in china? Even if they were stuck in customs they would still show up on fedex's website. I once had a package delayed by customs for an entire month.

Kinda stupid to call since the 8th has not arrived... but I did anyway just to see if it would be delivered friday, instead of the posted delivery date of the Monday, 8 Oct...

Fedx international said that there is a 50/50 chance it will be delivered on friday, if no customs delays.

Guess people getting their laptops early is an issue that fedx needs to work out in their systems when shipping from overseas.

Getting it early is not the issue here. False and outdated information is the issue here. My laptop has been "shipped" since Saturday morning. On the FedEx site it said it shipped on the 3rd local time in China which was tuesday here in the East Coast. It has said "In Transit" ever since Tuesday morning. This thread was based on confusion that the tracking system has brought upon us.

In my case I have a $1800 investment that I have never seen that is being shipped from the other side of the world. Forgive us for worrying and being excited about our laptops.

    You make me laugh.

I think the bottom (the very bottom) line is your online report says it will be delivered on Oct 8, 2007 by 10:30 AM. Correct? You start to worry on the 8th at 10:31 AM when your package does not arrive.

The site was just updated. Of course, they kept a bunch of the packages together and shipped them on Tue. That is obvious. Wrong or right, mine is still being shipped early… it was not to be built out before the 5th of Oct anyway. I would bet yours was around that same day or you would have complained about it being shipped late already…. So we are having our stuff shipped early… and people still complain.

You really need to relax -- push away from the computer, and inhale very deeply.

Oh, wait, mine has been updated… wait, it says my laptop is downloading Microsoft updates! Man is that detailed information. I don’t know how fedx does it!

Actually, the main thing that is making me sweat this is the fact that the latest update is the only one I have ever seen on my tracking information. It says it is still in transit from China. Does anybody else's say something else? I mean i know it doesnt take two whole days to get ANYWHERE from China....I mean unless your walking or swimming somewhere.

All jokes aside... no, I went through this the first time I ordered with HP... it will take a couple of days to get out of china to customs, and then scanned again. This is not going from Calif to your location... things are not instant where you can track every night.

Relax (seriously), it will either be delivered on Friday (as they said 50/50 chance) or delivered on monday for sure.

No biggie for me since I'm sending this one back... got another on the way next week with the 30% discount. They would not apply the extra 10% discount on the computer that will show up tomorrow. Waste of money on their part IMO...

See. told you it would be here. ;)

Fedx does need to update their systems... but the only company I deal with that ship directly from china is hp (I've not purchased from another company that does this)... so maybe this is not the norm for fedx, which is why they have issues.

How did you get a 30% discount? What was your situation like that you had to ship this one for another one already?

Basically, I was in the market (started looking around June/july)... found the first 30% and 20% coupons in sep... Waited to move my money over and boom, the 30% was gone. Not knowing if they would kill the 20%, I purchased. I called and emailed hp to get the 30% but no luck

Then I come here and find out a new 30% coupon had hit. I went ahead and ordered. Figured HP would simply refund the 10% difference... I called and the rep told me to wait until my laptop arrived and send it back... she said they would not refund the additional 10% on the first laptop.

After seeing the posts on here about refunds, I figured they would do the refund for the first. The second system I configed did have more stuff, but it cost less. Maybe they figured the cost of building the second was better for them since they would have taken a bigger loss on giving me the 10% on the first. I don't know... I would have been happy either way.

I do have 2k out of my visa though, but no biggie... I'll send the first back asap, unopened to avoid any issues. edit: and I may have made a mess of things by ordering the second laptop without calling first....
