I don't like the processor options for the v3000z and am wondering if there will be any more options in the future? If this isn't a reality would I be able to buy a better processor, say the tl 60, and put that processor in. If this would be possible what would be the cheapest processor option that would allow me to do the switch?

It should be possible. HP is probably using the new socket S1 Sempron and Turion X2, so theoretically there shouldnt be any issues with upgrading. Practically(in realilty) we have to see how easy/difficult it is to access the processor.

The cheapest option if you are looking to upgrade would probably be the Sempron.

HP is good about posting their service manuals. That'll tell you how difficult it will be to swap processors. Lately they've been making you practically disassemble the entire machine. The manual doesn't appear to have been posted yet, it usually takes them a few weeks after a new notebook has been released. All that said, if you decide you can safely get to the CPU socket you're home free.

Your safest bet is to get the offered Turion X2 now, I think.

It should be the same(thats what I meant by the socket - this is what connects the cpu to the motherboard)...

    Reasons...
    1. AMD moved to DDR2 memory with Socket S1 in mobile processors which means if the Sempron can use DDR2 memory then it should be socket S1(638 pins) or AM2(940 pins).
    http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?id=1904&cid=2&pg=3Scroll down for relevant info

But AM2 processors are currently only offered for desktops and desktop replacement laptops(not available yet). The V3000/dv2000z is a thin & light and as such will probably get the mobile Sempron. the same way as the previous generation V2000's also got the mobile Sempron.

    2. Unlikely that HP would use a different socket in the same model series. It would make it overly complicated and cost them more.

But if you want to be on the safe side and more or less have very good chances of upgrading later on, then the lowest speed Tution X2 TL 50 is a good option.

    Thanks for the clarifications

I think I will wait until people are actually getting them and the manual is out before I buy.

They never seem to mention the type of memory used by the 6150. I think it will be shared but cant really find any info on that. I think it would be safe to assume that it will be integrated since the desktop versions all use shared memory. Guess we will have to wait until somebody gets their hands on one of these to really know!

My order is still in the production phase and has been for a week :( and an estimated build date of June 21.
